Recently, the Air Defense - Air Force Service opened a course on operation, exploitation and technical support of the VQ1-M System for southern units.

According to public information, the national airspace surveillance and protection system - Phase 1 (abbreviated as VQ1-M) was researched by the Military Telecommunications Group (Viettel) and put into use for a number of units of the Air Defense - Air Force Service since April 2015.

After the testing period, the Ministry of National Defense has decided to expand the use of this system to the entire Air Defense - Air Force Service. According to the Air Defense newspaper, the VQ1-M system manages data digitally, collects and processes information sources from military radars.

In addition, the VQ1-M system is also equipped in civil aviation and other sources of information to create an overall picture of the situation in the air to transmit data to agencies and units that need to receive information to serve combat readiness and airspace management.

VQ1-M can calculate threats to targets, partially support automated air defense commands; grasp the overall picture of the unit's combat equipment system; record and reproduce the picture of the air situation...

The widespread deployment of the VQ1-M System aims to ensure the requirement of "Not letting the Fatherland be surprised by situations from the air" and the combat readiness mission of the Air Defense - Air Force Service.

In just 20 months, the VQ1-M automatic national airspace surveillance system was completed, 4 months ahead of schedule, an unprecedented progress.

Putting the VQ1-M system into combat equipment marks a new step of development of Vietnam's defense industry, contributing to improving the quality of performing combat readiness duty, airspace management, and flight operations management of the Air Defense - Air Force Service.

The VQ1-M system operates very simply because it has a Vietnamese interface that helps the on-duty crew operate extremely quickly, accurately, easily, with an extremely low probability of error, missing or falsely reporting targets.

All target parameters, operating status of radar stations, even individual radar stations are integrated, combined and displayed on the Command Center screen, helping the Service have full information to issue correct and effective combat orders.

Of course, immediately, those targets, with just a light click of a mouse, were handed over to the waiting firepower units from the regimental, divisional and national levels to open fire and shoot down.
