German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam seeks investment cooperation opportunities in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - In order to seek investment opportunities and cooperation, on the afternoon of May 20, a working delegation of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK) in Vietnam and the representative office of the German Ministry of Economics and Energy had a working session with the leaders of Nghe An province.
Mr. Marko Walde - Chief Representative of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Vietnam led the delegation. Also attending were representatives of the German Ministry of Economics and Energy.
The delegation was hosted by Mr. Tran Khanh Thuc - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Nghe An province and representatives of relevant departments and branches.

Coming to Nghe An for the first time, the representative of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce highly appreciated the potential for cooperation between the two countries. Vietnam has always been an attractive destination for German enterprises, especially since Vietnam signed the FTA.Free Trade Agreementwith Europe (EVFTA). With a favorable geographical location, located in the East-West economic corridor, an abundant and skilled workforce, Vietnam has had a close relationship with the Federal Republic of Germany for many years. Therefore, the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce assesses that Nghe An will be a safe and effective investment destination for German investors, thereby contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the province.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, the representative of the Department of Foreign Affairs introduced to the delegation of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce some basic features of the socio-economic situation of Nghe An province; some large industrial parks that the province has attracted infrastructure investment in the area such as WHA, VSIP, Hoang Mai Industrial Park; the major orientations for attracting investment of the province in the coming time are prioritizing green technology, clean technology...
Besides introducing potential investment opportunities in Nghe An, the representative of Nghe An province also shared that in the past, Germany had a number of cooperation and funding projects for Nghe An such as:Quang Trung Apartment Complex, Vietnam - Germany Vocational College but now it has degraded. In the coming time, Nghe An hopes to attract investment projects related to new technology, smart technology, so we hope to receive support and connection from the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the German Ministry of Economics and Energy for businesses to invest.

In his response, Mr. Marko Walde - Chief Representative of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce shared the experience and perspective of German enterprises. That is, he highly appreciated the investment environment in ASEAN in general and Vietnam in particular. Compared to other provinces, Nghe An has a number of great advantages due to the large potential for industrial real estate. When considering investment, German enterprises always want to find out information about the source of electricity for production, whether it is usedrenewable energyand safe? The labor situation in Nghe An and the training facilities for workers to work and study in the Federal Republic of Germany... Currently, German enterprises do not have much information about Nghe An's attraction, so in the coming time, the delegation hopes to have the opportunity to participate in forums to promote and attract investment in the province.

The Federal Republic of Germany is the largest economy in the EU and the 4th largest in the world. For many years, Germany has been the 3rd largest exporter and importer of goods in the world, so the opportunity for cooperation and trade development for Vietnamese and Nghe An enterprises is quite large. In 2021, Nghe An had 30 enterprises participating in import and export activities, with turnover in 2021 reaching 38.27 million USD, 3.64 times higher than in 2020, accounting for 2% of the total turnover of the whole province; in the first 4 months of 2022, exports reached 16.37 million USD, up 59% over the same period; import turnover reached nearly 1 million USD.
