With age, bones weaken, and hip osteoporosis can easily lead to fractures. Scientists at Loughborough University (UK) recently discovered that hopping may help reduce the risk of osteoporosis.
The study was conducted on 34 men aged 65-80. They hopped daily and made no lifestyle changes for a year. The results showed a clear difference in their bone structure. Bone mass increased by 7%, and the bones most prone to fractures in falls improved.
Dr. Sarah Allison, a member of the research team, stated: “Older adults should pay close attention to their hip bones. Those with problems in this area experience pain, reduced mobility and independence, and an increased risk of mortality. We know that exercise strengthens bones, so we researched hopscotch as an easy and quick exercise that people can do at home.”
The research team noted that the most important thing is to exercise moderately and cautiously to prevent falls.
