(Baonghean.vn) - Thai fans and Thai media are not happy with the results of the draw for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Asia when the home team has to face Vietnam and the UAE.

The draw for the second qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia has been conducted, with a surprising result when Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia were in Group G with the UAE.

Commenting on Group G, reporter Bee Uamklat of FourFourTwo Thailand magazine shared: “Group G is a group of death, it will be very difficult for both Thailand and Vietnam. However, I think Vietnam is the team with the highest chance. Thailand cannot do much because Thailand can lose to both Vietnam and UAE. I predict Thailand will finish in 3rd place in Group G.”

From the past to the present, Thailand has always been a tough opponent for the Vietnam national team, but in the most recent head-to-head record, Vietnamese football is dominating. Bee Uamklat commented: "The confrontation between Thailand and Vietnam will be much more exciting than the King's Cup. It will be an official match and scoring, much more tense.

The Thai national team has many good players, but what they lack is a good coach. However, I think the new head coach Akira Nishino will be suitable for the Thai players because he is a coach who tends to focus on the attack."

Evaluating further about the Vietnam National Team, this reporter answered the reporter of Nghe An Newspaper: "The Vietnam National Team is progressing very quickly and the Vietnam Football Federation needs to keep coach Park Hang-seo. If he leaves, it will be very difficult to find someone to replace him at this time."

Also according to Bee Uamklat, on July 21, coach Akira Nishino will officially debut in Thai football: "The mission of new head coach Akira Nishino is to lead Thailand to the second qualifying round of the Asian region of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the 2023 AFC Asian Cup in China, the SEA Games and the 2020 AFC U23 Championship."

Finally, the FourFourTwo magazine reporter said: "Although the opportunity for the Vietnam team to continue is very high, I still think that a ticket to the World Cup is beyond the reach of Southeast Asian teams. It will be very difficult for Indonesia or Malaysia because they are teams in group 4 and group 5."

The second qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia will be held from September 2019 to June 2020. With 40 teams divided into 8 groups of 5 teams each, they will compete in a round-robin format, home and away. The 8 group winners and 4 best second-placed teams will advance to the final qualifying round.
