Parents upset because preschool children's 'frugal meal' consists of only boiled vermicelli
(Baonghean.vn) - Parents of a kindergarten in Nghe An said that paying 15,000 VND a day for school meals but the children only get boiled noodles is too bad.
On November 5, Mr. Ngan Xuan Nhung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Ngan Commune (Con Cuong District), said that he was waiting for the explanation of the commune's kindergarten about the "frugal meals" that parents reported. "We have also worked with the school but their explanation is not satisfactory," Mr. Nhung said.
A few days ago, a parent went to Thach Ngan Kindergarten and saw that the children’s meals there were “too modest,” so he used his phone to take pictures. He then printed the photos to question the school’s leaders and shared them on social media.

A photo taken by a parent confirms this is the main meal. |
“This is what Thach Ngan Kindergarten feeds the children. The main meal is only boiled noodles, no meat, but every day parents still pay 15,000 for meals,” the Facebook post stated.
After being posted, the photos immediately received hundreds of shares from parents. Most of the comments said that the meal was “too poor” and not nutritious enough for the children.
In response to parents’ anger, on November 3, Thach Ngan Kindergarten held a parent meeting. “Here, the principal explained that there was chicken in the refrigerator but forgot to take it out to cook,” said a parent.
However, speaking to Nghe An Newspaper, Ms. Le Thi Hanh, Principal of Thach Ngan Kindergarten, denied this. “I never said that. There is no way the school forgot to cook,” Ms. Hanh said.

The principal confirmed that this is "noodles boiled in bone broth". |
Principal Hanh said that there are two meals a day, and the photo that parents reported is a snack in the afternoon. “That is not rice noodles but vermicelli. It is not vermicelli boiled in boiling water but boiled in bone broth. The reason it looks so white is because the school does not provide any seasoning. If we add onions or tomatoes, the children will not eat it,” said Ms. Hanh.
“I am not sure if this meal is nutritious enough, but with a contribution of 15,000 VND per day, it is just enough to eat like that. In many other schools, parents pay more,” Principal Hanh added.
Thach Ngan Kindergarten has more than 350 students, of which more than 100 students study at satellite schools. Currently, about 200 students pay the school for meals every day to be served main and side meals./.
