Parents call for police help when child suffers brain injury in class

Although the teacher explained that the child fell in class, the family still asked the police to investigate.

On October 23, Hung Ha District Police (Thai Binh) confirmed that they are investigating the case of Do Gia Bao (three years old) suffering a traumatic brain injury in the classroom, according to a report from the child's family.

Working with the investigation agency, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai Thu said that at around 3:00 p.m. on September 23, she received a call from teacher Tran Thi Dung at Thai Hung kindergarten saying that her child had vomited in class and asked the family to bring clothes to change.

She arrived at school and was shocked to see Bao had a bruise on his forehead, his face was pale and he was still vomiting. "Ms. Dung said that when he woke up in the afternoon, he was waiting for his mother to pick him up, so he ran to the door and fell and hit his head on the window. After changing his clothes, I took him home," Ms. Dung said, adding that Bao went to class in a healthy condition this morning.

In the evening, seeing her child crying in pain, continuing to vomit and showing signs of coma, Ms. Thu checked and discovered that the right side of his head was swollen and "fluttering like a balloon." After examination at many hospitals, doctors determined that Bao had a traumatic brain injury, a hematoma in 1/4 of the brain...

Bao's father stated: "If he fell or hit the wall like the teacher said, it would be a different story, but if the teacher beat him, we request that the investigation agency handle it strictly."

The leader of Thai Hung kindergarten said that in the report sent to the authorities, Ms. Dung denied hitting Bao, saying that the child hit his head on the edge of the wall in the classroom...

Chairman of Thai Hung Commune People's Committee, Mr. Hoang Van Dang, said that this is a serious incident in the locality and hopes that the police will clarify the cause.
