(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An's preschools currently have more than 660 separate schools, concentrated in remote and disadvantaged areas. However, for many years now, the schools have maintained the organization of boarding for children to ensure that students attend school regularly and fully.

Lunch is considered a natural thing in kindergartens to maintain the organization of teaching 2 sessions/day. But for students in mountainous areas, especially those far from the center such as in Tung Huong village, Tam Quang commune (Tuong Duong district), this is really difficult. In order to go to school every day and stay at school past noon, they have to bring lunch from home. Photo: Duc Anh

Lunch for students at the remote school is very frugal, each student has a different dish. However, despite the difficulties, the teachers in the remote area still try to organize a neat and tidy meal for the students. Photo: Duc Anh

In addition to the main meals at home, teachers at Tung Huong school help cook soup for students. Parents contribute 3,000 VND/day. Photo: Duc Anh

Tam Quang Kindergarten (Tuong Duong) has more than 400 students and in addition to the main school, there are also satellite schools far from the center. Therefore, organizing boarding for children is extremely difficult. Currently, with the same boarding model, the school is having to implement three forms at the same time, which are:boarding, focusing on boarding schools for foster parents and boarding schools for foster teachers. In the first form, only the main school can be implemented. In the other two forms, either parents bring their own meals for the children, or parents contribute money and teachers support to organize boarding schools for children. Photo: Duc Anh

Due to many difficulties, in recent years, the Nghe An Education Department has had a policy of merging separate schools. However, for preschools, the merger is very difficult because of the characteristics of young children and the distance between schools. The whole province currently has 669 separate preschool schools, along with more than 600 separate schools where parents and teachers have to work together to organize boarding for children. At Chau Hanh Kindergarten (Quy Chau), due to its large area (the separate schools border Que Phong district and Thanh Hoa province), it is very difficult to organize centralized boarding. Therefore, for separate schools such as Ta Co school (with nearly 100 students), parents have to contribute 50,000 VND per month to hire villagers to organize boarding for children. Photo: Duc Anh

To reduce the cost of organizing boarding schools, the school uses the remaining area to grow vegetables. Photo: Duc Anh

Every week, parents will take turns coming to take care of the school's vegetable garden. Ta Co is still a convenient school, the other three schools are Na Xon, Ta Soi and Thuan Lap, students still have to bring food from home to school every day. Photo: Duc Anh
Ha Son (Muong Noc commune, Que Phong district) is a village where nearly 90% of the students are Khmu ethnic people. Like many other remote schools with difficulties, students here go to school every day with lunch boxes in their hands. Photo: Duc Anh

In the simple and modest kitchen, teachers Trinh Thi Hang and Lo Thi Mai take turns cooking soup for the children every day. At some other schools, parents bring food and the teachers cook rice. Although they have to perform three tasks at the same time: teaching a combined class of 4 and 5 year olds, cooking for boarding students and taking care of the children, the teachers are still very happy because thanks to the boarding meals, the Khmu students come to school more regularly. Lunch is organized neatly in the hallway. At first glance, it looks like the lunches are organized centrally at the main school. Photo: Duc Anh

To ensure the quality of meals, the school will organize monthly training sessions to guide children in cooking nutritious meals. Therefore, even though they have to bring rice from home, the meals of Khmu students are still guaranteed to be of good quality, with rice, vegetables, chopped meat and fish, and are prepared very deliciously. Every month, experts from the Department of Education and Training of Que Phong district will directly inspect the meals of boarding children. Photo: Duc Anh
After lunch, students will take a nap at school, ensuring that their activities follow the regular preschool schedule. Photo: Duc Anh

Maintaining boarding at 546/546 preschools in the province is also a solution to improve the quality of preschool education, reduce malnutrition in children and, more importantly, contribute to the mobilization of children to go to school and universalize preschool for 5-year-olds in the province.
