Parents in Vinh City 'anxiously' waiting for the lottery day
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 1, all public kindergartens in Vinh City began receiving applications and enrolling students for the 2017-2018 school year.
This school year, the "hot" enrollment situation is still happening, especially in the central wards of the city such as Hong Son, Le Mao, Hung Binh, and Ha Huy Tap.

At Le Mao Kindergarten, this year the school enrolls 50 2-year-old preschool children (born in 2015). However, according to the school's survey in the ward, there are 210 children who want to enter the class. To ensure fairness for parents, the school is expected to conduct a lottery on August 7.
In addition to the pressure on 2-year-olds, the school is also under pressure to universalize 5-year-olds because according to statistics, the whole ward currently has 49 5-year-olds who have not yet gone to school. In addition, there are still dozens of other students studying in private kindergartens (without universalization functions) who will transfer. If the number of 5-year-old students increases, the total number of classes from 2 to 4 years old will "shrink" or accept an increase in class size.

The anxiety is evident on the faces of every parent because this year, only about 35% of 2-year-old children in the area were admitted. Photo: My Ha |

The application process is carefully checked. According to regulations, only children in the area can register. However, the current difficulty of Le Mao Ward is that there are quite a few children who, although not living in the area, "rely" on the household registration of their grandparents or siblings. According to statistics, Ha Huy Tap Kindergarten has 2,314 children of school age. However, the kindergarten can only accommodate 950 children. In this situation, the school is forced to use the "lottery" method to enroll children born in 2015.

The pressure on preschool enrollment is within expectations, especially for 5-year-old children because 2012 is considered a good year, the year of the “golden dragon”. Therefore, compared to the previous school year, this year the number of 5-year-old children increased by 1,949. For 2-year-old children, although the survey of the city's needs was 5,530 children, the target was only 3,226 children (including non-public schools). This means that more than 2,000 children (in all age groups) have to stay at home.
Mr. Le Truong Son - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh City also said: Although this year, the City has 2 more non-public kindergartens, namely Tran Dai Nghia Kindergarten (Le Mao Ward) and Nang Mai Kindergarten (Hung Dung Ward), they can only meet a part of the schooling needs of students in the area./.
