Interestingly, the outfit worn by the new First Lady of France was borrowed from a renowned fashion house. Furthermore, Mr. Macron himself wore a suit that cost less than $500.

This information, revealed by Macron's staff, is seen as an attempt to highlight the new leader's distinction from the often-seen "glamorous" political scene in France.

Looking back, when he was still popular, Macron's conservative opponent, Francois Fillon, was "unlucky" enough to be embroiled in several financial scandals during the presidential campaign, including a gift he received from a wealthy businessman: two custom-made suits worth approximately 13,000 euros.

Given that opinion polls show honesty is one of the top qualities French voters expect from a president, Macron's choice of attire on his big day seems to have signaled that he would be different from his predecessors.

Previously, former conservative President Nicolas Sarkozy, who led France from 2007 to 2012, was nicknamed the "Glamorous President" because of his extravagant lifestyle.

Macron's predecessor, Francois Hollande, tried to cultivate the image of a "people's president," but faced fierce criticism for spending nearly 10,000 euros a month on a private barber.
