Thai women learn how to do community tourism

(Baonghean.vn) - Women in many Thai villages in Con Cuong are encouraged to preserve traditional occupations, learn to cook, and build self-management models in their villages to develop tourism.

With the goal of building Con Cuong into an ecological urban area by 2020, in which the tourism and trade industry is considered the priority development focus, the District Women's Union orients its members to participate in building community tourism and ecological tourism models.

Con Cuong currently has 4 villages selected to build a community tourism model including Khe Ran village, Bong Khe commune, Nua village, Yen Khe commune, Xieng village and Thai Hoa village, Mon Son commune.

These are four purely agricultural villages with the majority of residents being Thai ethnic people, who are used to old ways of life such as toilets and livestock pens attached to or near houses.

Since promoting the development of community tourism models, the villagers, pioneered by women, have "cleaned up" their villages, ensuring green, clean and beautiful elements to "score points" with tourists from near and far.

In addition to ensuring environmental sanitation, the Con Cuong District Women's Union also utilizes all resources to support women in maintaining and developing traditional occupations serving tourism such as brocade weaving, bamboo and rattan weaving, and wine making.

In addition, the district regularly opens vocational training and cooking classes. Students are taught and guided to cook traditional Thai dishes such as bamboo rice, grilled chicken, banana flower salad, meatballs, and various cakes. Women are also guided to make modern dishes such as grilled ribs, grilled meat, canned meat, steamed fish, braised fish, sour beef, braised beef, stir-fried beef, red wine sauce, grilled frog, stir-fried frog with eggplant, fried frog with butter, mixed salad, salad, etc.

The women were also organized to visit and learn about local tourism in Mai Chau, Hoa Binh. Through the construction of cooperative models, traditional craft villages, and cooking service complexes, they have contributed to serving community tourism, visitors to Khe Kem and Ta Bo waterfalls, Pha Lai dam - Giang river, Pu Mat primeval forest and local festivals.

Thereby, attracting more tourists to visit and relax locally, increasing income for local people./.
