Phu Yen held an extraordinary meeting to elect the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
On August 8, at the eighth session (extraordinary session), the People's Council of Phu Yen province, term VII (2016-2021), elected Mr. Pham Dai Duong to hold the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Yen province with 47/47 votes, reaching 100%.

On August 1, 2018, he was transferred by the Central Party Secretariat and appointed to join the Phu Yen Provincial Party Executive Committee (term 2015-2020) and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.
Before being transferred to Phu Yen province, Mr. Pham Dai Duong held the position of Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Head of the Hoa Lac High-Tech Park Management Board, and member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Pham Dai Duong expressed his thanks to the delegates of the People's Council of Phu Yen province for their trust in electing him to the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. He pledged to work with the officials and leaders of Phu Yen province to build and develop the locality. In his new position, he will stick to reality, respect the people, be close to the people, listen to their thoughts and aspirations to serve the people, be unified in perception, will and action, create consensus and unanimity in the whole society...
At this session, the People's Council of Phu Yen province also decided to dismiss Mr. Hoang Van Tra from the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and cease his duties as a delegate of the People's Council of Phu Yen province, term VII (2016-2021) because Mr. Hoang Van Tra was transferred to work at the Central Inspection Committee.
