Ward opens parking lot, traders block it with bricks and stones
(Baonghean.vn) - A car parking lot has been set up in front of Hung Dung market gate (Vinh city) for 2 months now. Believing that the parking lot affects business, many traders have brought bricks and stones to prevent cars from parking.
Located on Tue Tinh Street, Hung Dung Market has over 600 business households. The front of the market consists of a row of 20 kiosks selling all kinds of goods such as household appliances, clothes, candy, etc. 2 months ago, Hung Dung Ward People's Committee proposed to paint lines and set up a parking lot in the open area in front of the market, on Tue Tinh Street. Every day, the lot has dozens of people's vehicles parked to go to the market to buy and sell.

Believing that the parking lot was blocking the kiosk and affecting business, the traders brought rocks, wood and many other objects to block the cars from entering the "pen".
A merchant at Hung Dung market said: I have rented a booth here for a long time, but suddenly a few months ago they drew a "pen" for cars to park, blocking the way, making it difficult for customers to enter the booth to buy goods.
The fact that vendors are blocking cars from entering the parking lot has been going on for many days now has left many people wondering how to park their cars to enter the market. If they park outside the “cage”, they will be fined, and if they enter the “cage”, they will be blocked by vendors.

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Trang - Vice Chairman of Hung Dung Ward People's Committee said: In Hung Dung market area, traffic safety problems often occur due to motorbikes not entering the parking lot, parking haphazardly, and cars parking illegally for customers entering the market. In addition, the situation of street vendors and pushcarts occupying the roadway causes disorder, loss of urban aesthetics and potential risks of traffic accidents. Therefore, the ward has conducted a survey, proposed to draw lines for the parking lot, restore order; at the same time, coordinate with the city to strengthen the handling of cases of illegal parking.
According to Mr. Trang, the area painted for car parking is located in front of the market, in the shape of a bay so it is relatively suitable. If the line is too far away, it will obstruct traffic on Tue Tinh street, if the line is too close, it will affect the business of small traders.
Therefore, to facilitate the business of small traders as well as to restore order, the lines of the car parking lot are all 1.2 m or more away from the steps of the kiosks. Regarding the feedback from business households, the ward has accepted and is coordinating with the Vinh City Urban Infrastructure Company to re-survey the parking lot line marking, then will work directly with the small traders at the market.
