Baby Nguyen Quang Anh, who is living with his parents in Ho Chi Minh City, is just over 17 months old but has followed his parents all over Vietnam and some neighboring countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Japan...

When he was born, Quang Anh weighed only 2.5 kg due to premature birth. His mother had uterine fibroids, so when she was 37 weeks pregnant, Nguyen Thi Thuy Tien (born in 1983) had to have a cesarean section. After a month, Quang Anh weighed the same as his newborn siblings: 3.5 kg. However, Tien and her husband did not abstain from food as was traditional. At only 10 days old, the baby was taken to the supermarket with his parents. At 2 months old, Quang Anh was taught to swim. At 4 months old, he went backpacking with his parents for the first time. Also on this trip, he went diving in Nha Trang with his father Nguyen Quoc Anh.

Quang Anh and his mother on top of Fansipan.

Anh Quoc Anh (born in 1980) is a backpacker who loves mountain climbing, scuba diving and adventure games. When he went abroad, he witnessed many Western couples dragging their children everywhere and the children were still happy and healthy, which made him confident enough to take the whole family on a backpacking trip to 5 or 6 places a month. He likes the natural way of raising children, exposing them to the outside environment early so that they can grow up strong. For him, backpacking trips not only help children experience more but also help parents feel like they are growing up with their children.

Baby Quang Anh is neatly dressed like a "backpacker" on long trips.

Initially, Quang Anh's grandparents did not agree with the idea of letting him go outside too early. To avoid conflicts arising from taking care of the child, Quang Anh's parents decided to move out and raise their child according to their own wishes. The grandparents did not support the outings because they thought they were useless for the child. However, now that they have seen the child develop well and become bold and confident, the grandparents have changed their views and are very proud of their grandchild.

To help Quang Anh move well, Ms. Tien often massages the baby. She helps her baby push up his chest, turn over, push up his stomach, push up his legs, and lift him up like an airplane in the first months of his life. At 2 months, the baby started wearing a swimming ring in the bathtub, then went to swimming lessons. However, the parents did not interfere with the baby's sitting or walking practice, but let him develop naturally. Quang Anh was not allowed to practice walking with a walker, but instead held on to objects around him to walk on his own.

Sharing her experience of taking her child on an early backpacking trip, Ms. Tien said that when Quang Anh was young, the preparation was quite complicated because he needed a lot of things like diapers and milk. Now that he knows how to eat rice, preparing food is less complicated. Before going, she always pays attention to the weather forecast to bring suitable clothes for her child. She also never forgets medicines like mosquito repellent, fever reducer... "Let's go out" is one of the sentences Quang Anh said the earliest. Thanks to traveling a lot, he also knows how to use words like "thank you", "so delicious" very well...

The boy and his father on a trip to visit Sa Pa villages.

The most special trip for the baby since birth was the Fansipan climb last April. At that time, his father had a viral fever, which also infected Quang Anh. The baby had a high fever but only took fever-reducing medicine, so his parents thought the trip to conquer the roof of Indochina would be postponed. This was the first time Quang Anh got sick during a trip. However, he recovered very quickly and kept saying "Let's go out", "Let's go out".

The family spent 5 days in Sa Pa. The father rented a motorbike and took Quang Anh and his mother to the villages. On the way, the boy was excited and howled loudly. On the 3rd day of their stay in Sa Pa, Quang Anh's family started climbing Fansipan. Not wanting to risk their child's health, his parents chose to take the cable car, and they only climbed the last 600 steps before reaching the top of the mountain.
