From September 12, 2014, Piaggio Vietnam began recalling 14,291 Vespa vehicles to check and fix errors in the fuel line.

Specifically, there are 9,793 Vespa LX 3V ie vehicles subject to recall, the number of Vespa S 3V ie vehicles is 2,655 vehicles, the number of Vespa LXV 3V ie vehicles is 1,226 vehicles and the number of Vespa LT 3V ie vehicles is 617 vehicles. All vehicles subject to recall are equipped with Piaggio's new generation of 3V engines and were manufactured between May 13, 2013 and January 10, 2014.

The Italian fashion car company said that during the quality control process, it discovered that the fuel pipe installed on the vehicle did not meet Piaggio Group standards. In some harsh conditions, this phenomenon could lead to the fuel pipe cracking, causing fuel leakage. Therefore, Piaggio Vietnam "decided to inspect all vehicles in question to find the error and replace this part".

According to the recall program approved by the Vietnam Register (Ministry of Transport), Piaggio Vietnam will conduct free inspections for all vehicles suspected of having errors. If errors are detected, Piaggio will fix them by replacing the fuel pipe. All recall and error correction activities will be carried out free of charge. The inspection and correction time (if any) is expected to be from 10 minutes to 60 minutes.

In addition, Piaggio also recalled the imported Vespa 946 2013 model sold in the Vietnamese market to check for similar errors. Vespa 946 is a popular scooter model of Piaggio in the global market with a unique design and a selling price of hundreds of millions of dong.

Piaggio is a very popular motorcycle brand in Vietnam. And therefore, Vietnam is also one of Piaggio's largest markets worldwide. Currently, Piaggio is in the process of completing its plan to turn Vietnam into a major export center of the group. In the past 3 years, Piaggio Vietnam has continuously expanded its factory, built a research and development center and according to the plan, Piaggio's headquarters in the Asia-Pacific region is also being calculated to move from Singapore to Vietnam.
