Piaggio recalls Liberty ABS in Vietnam.

January 21, 2017 19:04

Over 13,000 Liberty ABS scooters manufactured between September 2015 and December 2016 are at risk of reduced structural rigidity with prolonged use.

Piaggio Vietnam stated that this recall program is part of the parent company's overall policy in Italy. Routine inspections revealed that the main frame tube of these vehicles is at risk of reduced rigidity with prolonged use. If driven frequently on rough roads or overloaded, the bent part of the frame tube will lose rigidity and may even crack.

The recall will last one year, from January 20, 2017 to January 20, 2018, at all authorized Piaggio dealerships nationwide.

The Liberty is a scooter model that brought success to Piaggio in Vietnam by opening up a new customer segment that is individualistic and fashionable. The scooter uses a 125cc 3-valve engine, integrates ABS brakes, and is priced at 55.5 million VND for the standard version and 56.5 million VND for the sport version.
