On the morning of November 11 at the My Dinh Water Sports Palace, the Hanoi Pickleball Referee Team was officially launched, becoming the first professional referee team of pickleball in Vietnam. The team consists of 25 core members, trained according to international standards and committed to the motto "Fairness - Accuracy - Professionalism - Civilization". The event is considered a turning point, bringing Vietnamese pickleball closer to international standards in tournament operations.
Hanoi Pickleball Referee Team: 25 members, international standards
According to Mr. Mac Xuan Tung - representative of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the establishment of the referee team is "an important step forward to help Vietnamese pickleball develop in a professional, transparent and internationally integrated direction". The members all have experience in managing amateur and national tournaments, are well-trained and have a firm grasp of the competition rules.
Team representative, Ms. Hoang Thi Thai Binh emphasized the role of the referees: "The referee is not only the person who controls the match, but also the bridge to spread the spirit of fair and civilized sportsmanship." The team's professional declaration focuses on impartiality and standards, streamlining processes to suit modern competition requirements.
Immediate impact: standardize tournaments, reduce controversy
The formation of a professional referee team is expected to help domestic tournaments operate in accordance with the law, limit disputes and ensure a professional competition experience for athletes. This is also a core force ready to participate in managing regional and international tournaments, thereby promoting the image of Vietnamese pickleball to the world.
In the picture of sports operations, refereeing is the link that ensures fairness, continuity and transparency of the game. With a core structure of 25 members, the team has the foundation to assign, supervise and maintain stable quality of officiating at many different levels of competition.
Movement Background: Pickleball Gains steam across the provinces
In recent years, pickleball has transformed from a relatively unknown sport into a widespread movement. Hundreds of clubs, training grounds and tournaments are held regularly; rankings, training courses for players and coaches take place regularly. The player community is increasingly diverse in age and profession, turning pickleball into a "social bridge" with a spirit of solidarity, civilization and positivity.
In the context of rapid development, the need for a professional operating system becomes urgent. The launch of the Hanoi Pickleball Referee Team therefore not only fills the gap in referee personnel but also lays the foundation for operating standards, creating a backbone for the professionalization process.
Community signal: 35 million VND/hour class for charity
The attention paid to the sport is also reflected in fundraising activities with community significance. A 1:1 pickleball lesson with international coach Marcel Chan was auctioned for up to 35 million VND, attracting attention because of its record price and charitable purpose.
Milestone for the integration phase
The launch of the Hanoi Pickleball Referee Team shows that Vietnamese pickleball is on the right track: methodical, professional and ready to reach the regional level. When the quality of officiating is improved, the trust of athletes and fans increases, creating a foundation for expanding the scale of tournaments and raising competition standards. This is an important step for the movement to develop sustainably in the coming years.
