HP computer batteries in Vietnam pose fire risk

Batteries manufactured from March 2013 to August 2015 were shipped with HP 450, HP 240, HP 246, HP ProBook 440 G0, HP ProBook 440 G1, HP 1000 computers.

These batteries, also sold as accessories and replacement parts by HP Vietnam, have been recalled due to the potential for overheating, posing a risk of fire or burns to users.

Based on a report from Hewlett-Packard Vietnam Co., Ltd. (HP), the Competition Management Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade has just issued a notice on a recall program for batteries of this computer brand manufactured from March 2013 to the end of August 2015 due to the possibility of overheating, leading to the risk of fire or burns to users.

Specifically, the battery code was shipped with the HP 450, HP 240, HP 246, HP ProBook 440 G0, HP ProBook 440 G1, HP 1000 laptop products or was sold as accessories, replacement parts, provided as replacement parts through warranty service.

The serial numbers of products shipped with potentially affected batteries are: xxx311xxxx – xxx444xxxx.

The Competition Management Department recommends that consumers quickly check and compare the battery code for their computers at the official website of HP: http://www.hp.com/go/batteryprogram2016

In the event that the battery is subject to recall, consumers should stop using it, remove the battery, and contact HP for assistance.

From the date of notification until the end of the recall, HP will replace or exchange batteries for customers whose batteries are subject to recall./.
