The incident occurred at around 5am on March 9. As PSG members left the airport, a crowd was waiting outside to insult them. Some extremists even attacked the team's convoy.

After a day of investigation, PSG confirmed that the crowd were home fans. The group's actions were a result of disappointment with the team's performance in Barcelona: a 1-6 defeat in the second leg and a 5-6 aggregate defeat in the Champions League round of 16.

Alessandro Canovi, Motta's representative, confirmed that his client had accidentally caused the accident while trying to swerve the car away from the crowd. "Motta was stopped.
