"I spoke with him (Russian Foreign Minister)SergeiLavrov) today. I will be forced to reprimand him because he did not share classified information with us. Not with me, nor with representatives of the Russian intelligence services. That is very bad," Russian President Putin said sarcastically today at a press conference in Sochi, showing that the Russian foreign minister was not actually given any classified information by Trump during their meeting last week at the White House, according to Reuters.
Putin said Russia was ready to pass on a transcript of Trump's meeting with Lavrov to US lawmakers if it would help reassure them.
A Putin aide, Yuri Ushakov, later told reporters that Moscow had a written transcript, not an audiotape.
Mr Putin complained about what he called signs of “political psychosis” in the US and suggested that Mr Trump was being prevented by others from doing his job properly.
“It is hard to imagine what other absurd and ridiculous things these people could come up with,” Putin said.
“What surprises me is that they are shaking up the domestic political situation by using anti-Russian slogans. If they do not understand the damage they are doing to their country, then they are simply naive, but if they understand everything, then they are dangerous and wrong.”
"In any case, this is an American matter. We do not want to and do not intend to interfere," the Russian President added.
Two US officials said earlier this week that during a meeting last week in the Oval Office, Mr Trump disclosed classified information to Mr Lavrov about an operation involving the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS), setting off a row at the White House.
