Putin invites Kim Jong-un to visit Russia in September
Praising the US-North Korea summit as helping to avert the threat of conflict, Putin invited Kim Jong-un to Russia in September.

Following the success of the US-North Korea summit on June 12, Russian President Putin today extended an invitation to leader Kim Jong-un to make an official visit to Russia via KIm Yong-nam, Chairman of the North Korean Parliament, according to Reuters.
Kim Yong-nam is the President of the Supreme People's Assembly, the legislature of North Korea,since 1998. He was in Russia for the opening ceremony of the World Cup and he wasdelivered a handwritten letter from Kim Jong-un to Putin.
At the meeting with Kim Yong-nam, Putsaid he "welcomed and highly appreciated" the meeting between the US President and the North Korean leader. Putin stressed that the deadlock on the North Korean issue "worries the whole world and could lead to serious consequences, including a serious military conflict".
The Russian president added that the US-North Korea summit "helps to push back unfavorable scenarios and opens up prospects for resolving all issues by peaceful and diplomatic means."
