Putin: "Russia is about to finish building a super nuclear missile that is powerful enough to wipe out an entire city"
President Vladimir Putin said Russia will complete the creation of a nuclear weapon capable of wiping out an entire city by crashing to the ground "like a meteor" at 20 times the speed of sound by 2019.
The Russian leader's statement has fueled fears of a third world war. Tensions between Washington and Moscow reached a new high when the Russian president claimed he had a weapon that could counter any anti-missile system, making it virtually invincible.
"We know for sure. This is a clear fact and our colleagues have also realized it. We have surpassed all competitors in this field," the Kremlin leader stressed.
“In response to the development of the US ballistic missile system, we are improving our strike capabilities. Some of the weapons are already in service, while others will be deployed soon,” Putin added. According to a source inside Russia’s defense industry, the super-nuclear missile is called Avangard and is estimated to be operational next year.
