Some foreign intelligence agencies are directly supporting extremist and terrorist groups to destabilize regions near the border with Russia, - Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"You know well what challenges Russia faces: attempts to restrain our development, impose confrontation, and destabilize regions near Russia's borders," the Russian president said.
"Among the tools used are terrorist and extremist groups. It is no secret that some of them are taken care of and even receive direct support from the intelligence agencies of some countries," Putin said at the headquarters of the Foreign Intelligence Service on June 28, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the service.
