Russia will restore relations with Ukraine regardless of its relationship with the neighboring country's leadership, President Vladimir Putin said in an interview on June 13.
The Russian leader also affirmed that restoring relations with Russia and Ukraine is inevitable and expressed hope that the new Ukrainian President can act to improve relations with Russia.
President Putin also expressed his opinion about the previous leaders of Ukraine who followed a pro-Western line for personal interests, and commented: "I hope that the new leader of Ukraine will not have these limitations and will be responsible in responding to the trust of the Ukrainian people as well as taking positive actions to restore Ukraine-Russia relations and solve domestic problems."
