(Baonghean.vn)- On July 5, Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani called for “dialogue” to resolve the Gulf diplomatic crisis. The head of the Qatari Foreign Ministry also accused Arab countries, which have severed diplomatic ties with Doha, of plotting to undermine the country’s sovereignty.

Speaking at Chatham House in London, Al-Thani said: “Qatar continues to call for dialogue,” as Arab countries meet in Egypt to discuss their next move against Doha.

“We welcome any serious efforts to resolve differences with our neighbors. We do not accept interference in the internal affairs of our country,” Al-Thani added. Qatar’s foreign minister accused Saudi Arabia and its regional allies of “demanding that we surrender our sovereignty in exchange for ending the siege.”

Mr. Al-Thani believes that the Gulf campaign against Qatar is mainly led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Mr. Al-Thani also stated that Qatar needs a healthy and constructive relationship with neighboring Iran.

A Saudi-led group of Arab states has cornered Qatar, closing its air, sea and land borders to the country, cutting off vital imports including food. They have also asked Qatari citizens to leave their territories and taken a series of steps targeting Doha’s businesses and financial institutions.

The Gulf crisis has raised concerns about growing instability in the region, which includes the world's largest energy exporters and is also home to US military bases./.
