(Baonghean.vn) - The North-South Expressway project is 2,063km long and is a key national project.

During the construction process, there were many difficulties and problems, but with the strong direction of the Prime Minister: "only discuss progress, not retreat", "cross rivers to build bridges, cross fields to fill soil, cross mountains to dig mountains" to build highways; the construction units with the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, working through Tet, through holidays"...By September 2, 2023, over 1,000 km of the North-South Expressway had been completed and put into use (the entire route is expected to be completed by 2025), helping to shorten travel time, reduce the load on National Highway 1A, promote socio-economic development, and maximize the potential and advantages of provinces and cities across the country.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directly inspected the construction progress of Than Vu Tunnel, which has complex geology and strongly weathered rocks, and is considered the most difficult and complicated project among the mountain tunnels on the North-South Expressway.

The North-South Expressway section through Nghe An is over 87km long, passing through 37 communes and towns, divided into two component projects including Nghi Son-Dien Chau and Dien Chau-Bai Vot. Many sections pass through fields with weak soil, requiring the foundation to be raised more than 10m above the field surface.
