(Baonghean) From April 5-20, 2012, as part of the activities celebrating the National Tourism Year in the North Central coastal region, the "Returning to the Land of Heritage" exhibition took place in Thua Thien Hue. The images and artifacts displayed by the Nghe An delegation presented a comprehensive picture of the land and people of Nghe An to a large number of tourists and international friends. This was an opportunity for the Nghe An tourism industry to promote and attract tourists... - Currently, the "Returning to the Land of Heritage" exhibition is taking place in Hue City. Could you give us a brief introduction to this exhibition?
- The exhibition "Returning to the Land of Heritage" opened on April 5th at the Hue City Museum of History and Revolution.
The exhibition comprises three parts: The first part displays 1,000 artifacts with the theme "Dong Son Culture - A Brilliant Ancient Vietnamese Civilization," including Dong Son musical instruments, weapons, tools for labor and production, household items, jewelry, burial artifacts, and Dong Son pottery.
The photo exhibition, themed "Returning to the Land of Heritage," provides an overview of the cultural and tourism strengths of the North Central Coast region of Vietnam.
The exhibition section for the North Central provinces includes: the Hue Imperial Citadel complex - a world cultural heritage site, the heritage of Thanh Hoa province, the impressive cultural heritage of Nghe An province, the heritage of Hong Mountain and La River, and the cultural heritage of Quang Tri province - nostalgic tourism.
This is a meaningful cultural activity in response to the National Tourism Year of the North Central Coastal provinces and the Hue Festival 2012.
- What content did the Nghe An delegation bring to this exhibition? What was the purpose and significance of participating in this exhibition?
- After receiving the official letter from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, we developed a plan to submit to the Provincial People's Committee, implemented preparatory work, proceeded to build the exhibition outline, and selected images and artifacts to participate in the exhibition... Here, our delegation participates in two areas: Firstly, "Nghe An - Integration and Development" introduces the rich and unique cultural heritage with more than 1000 historical and cultural relics and many intangible cultural values created by the people of Nghe An throughout their long history...
The second part is themed "Lang Sen - The Homeland of President Ho Chi Minh," featuring images of the Hoang Tru historical complex, Lang Sen village, and the tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan.
In addition to 40 photographs, the exhibition also features publications (books, newspapers, music CDs) introducing the land of Nghe An, souvenirs, and some local specialties...
Through the "Journey to Heritage" exhibition, we aim to promote and introduce the rich cultural heritage, strengths, and tourism development potential of Nghe An province to domestic and international friends and tourists, thereby boosting cultural and tourism development.
- So, in your opinion, how is the relationship between cultural heritage and tourism development manifested? What is the practice in our province regarding the exploitation of heritage values for tourism development?
- Our province boasts a rich collection of heritage sites, with over 1,300 relics, including 300 classified relics; numerous diverse and unique festivals bearing the distinct mark of the region and ethnic groups; and is the cradle of folk songs, of melodious and heartfelt chants and verses, currently being submitted to UNESCO for recognition as "world intangible heritage".
In recent years, heritage sites have played a significant role in promoting tourism. Currently, although attention has been paid to promoting the value of these heritage sites in terms of tourism, their exploitation is still not as effective as their potential.
