Quach Mai Thy deserved to win 2 first prizes at Sao Mai 2019

The girl from Ninh Binh kept her "unique, strange" style in the final round of Sao Mai 2019 so that each week was like a transformation that surprised the judges and the audience who loved her.

Mai Thy's winning of two awards in this year's competition shows her boldness in renewing her work as well as choosing suitable songs to highlight her voice, helping her score absolute points. On the final night, Mai Thy chose "Van Canh - Su Dau" (cheo) and "The Non Nuoc" to sing with artist Thanh Thanh Hien, completely convincingly.

Answering VietNamNet's question after the final night: What made Mai Thy successful at Sao Mai this year?, she said very honestly: "I see myself as not a singer with good technique like many of my seniors, so I want to create a unique and strange style to have my own personality and bringing the audience to understand and love Vietnamese folk music more is what I aim for. The musical path is still ahead, I still have to try hard."

Someone has associated Mai Thy with the image of Ngoc Khue exploding and shining at Sao Mai 2003, but I personally hope that this young singer has a plan and more daring for the long road ahead. Tung Duong has made a spectacular breakthrough to become the number 1 male singer today from the Sao Mai rendezvous 2004 playground. The first prize in the chamber music category went to contestant Luong Hai Yen. The girl from Bac Giang has good vocal technique, and her investment in costume and image is also quite worthy of her position. Compared to Linh Chi, the runner-up, Luong Hai Yen has a more stable performance. Although she only won second prize, Linh Chi is still a promising face because of her beautiful voice.

The song selection was not suitable when Thuy Duong chose a “heavy” song, while Thanh Tam performed two songs that were too easy. The pop music champion awarded to Thuy Duong was also a reasonable choice with what she showed in the final night.

Second prizes in the chamber music, folk music and pop music styles were awarded to contestants Trinh Thi Linh Chi, Phan Thi Quynh Anh and Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam respectively. The Hope Star Award - Award of the Vietnam Musicians Association was presented to contestant Tran Phuong Mai; The Promising Award was given to Nguyen Vu Ha Giang; The Impressive Voice Award was given to contestant Nguyen Dieu Thuy; The Impressive Performance Award was given to contestant Thanh Quy.
