The first coffee shop with robot service in Vietnam
Service robots can say hello, thank you, invite customers to take items, or ask them to move out of the way when encountering obstacles.
Located on Lac Trung Street (Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi), a coffee shop is attracting a lot of public attention thanks to the use of robots to serve customers. In fact, many restaurants, hotels and airports around the world have used robots, but this is the first time Vietnam has had such a model.

Robots are the centerpiece of the bar. |
The restaurant owner, Mr. Quoc Phi, came up with the idea after a meal at a restaurant in Japan: "When I saw them using robots instead of waiters, I thought why can't I make this a reality in Vietnam?"
Phi left his career as a flight attendant to pursue his dream with Trung Thanh, an electronics engineer, and gathered a group of young professionals. After months of research and testing, the group created the Mortar robot, named after a type of rocket, 130 cm tall, weighing 20 kg and able to operate continuously for 15 hours when fully charged. This is also the only robot used at this cafe.

Mr. Phi hopes that the cafe can bring the experience of a scientific space and the application of robots in life to Vietnamese people. |
When customers order drinks, the staff will mix them and put them on a tray in the robot's hand, so that it can find its way to the customer's table.
Mortar can communicate basic sentences with customers such as hello, thank you, please take items or ask to move out of the way when encountering obstacles. In the future, the technical team will continue to improve the Mortar robot to make it move smoother, reduce shaking when moving and can communicate flexibly with customers.
The restaurant is quite spacious with 4 rooms decorated with a technological feel. The room where the Mortar robot is located is designed like a spaceship, with a large glass wall facing the street.
The shop's menu has many options; the special drink is Bubble Gum milk tea, which has natural color from herbs and a unique flavor when combined with a type of tea whose name the owner did not reveal.
