Senior official claims Ukrainian missiles “surpass” Russian weapons of the same type

According to the press service of the National Security and Defense Council, while visiting the Luch Design Bureau in Kiev, Turchinov learned about new developments and technologies in the creation of missile weapons.

"For us, it is important that the Luch missile is not only inferior, but in its combat capabilities, superior to similar weapons produced by Russia," the press service quoted Mr. Turchinov as saying.

According to the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Ukrainian anti-tank missile systems Skif, Stugna, Corsar, Sarmat and Barier are well known beyond the territory of Ukraine and are "in demand in the foreign arms market".

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine also discussed with the leadership of Ukroboronoprom and the Luch Design Bureau the tasks of implementing the national missile program, in particular, the development of new missile launch systems and air defense missile systems.

Commenting on Mr. Turchinov's statement, a representative of the Center for Analysis of World Arms Trade (TsAMTO) said that this was an unreasonable statement when in reality they had to buy Javelin anti-tank missiles from the US.

"This shows that the domestic military industry is not capable of meeting the needs of the Ukrainian army for such equipment, so there is no point in talking about exports," - the representative of the Analytical Center commented. "I saw all the Skify and Stugna models that Ukraine brought to the exhibition as models. They did not have any contracts."
