German official doubts valid basis of US sanctions against Russia
The validity of new US sanctions against Russia raises many questions, Lower Saxony state leader Stefan Weil, who took part in the event on the prospects of German-Russian relations, told Sputnik.

“If the US plans to introduce new sanctions related to Russian chemical agents, I have many questions, starting with the circumstances of the case. I am a lawyer and therefore focus on the fact that the allegations need to be proven. I do not believe this,” Weil said.
He stressed that "we need to do the opposite: we don't need more sanctions, we need more cooperation, more dialogue".
