US media reported that an official from the US House Foreign Affairs Committee said on October 5 that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo failed to submit documents related to the Trump administration's dealings with Ukraine before the October 4 deadline set by Congress for him.
The official said Secretary Pompeo announced that the US State Department had issued “an initial response” to the requests from the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the Intelligence Committee, and the Oversight and Reform Committee, and pledged to cooperate fully within the framework of the law.
Earlier, speaking at a press conference in Athens (Greece), Mr. Pompeo emphasized: "The State Department sent a letter on the evening of October 4 to Congress, this is our initial response to the request for documents. Accordingly, we will of course do everything we are asked to do within the framework of the law."
"Regarding the appropriateness of the impeachment inquiry into President Trump, I believe there is a clear political motive involved in this investigation," Mr. Pompeo said./.
