According to the source, the fighting also killed 9 Chadian soldiers and injured 21. The number of casualties is likely to increase as clashes continue in the town of Gamboru, in Borno state, northeast Nigeria. However, the commander of the Republic of Chad forces Ahmat Dari announced that Chadian soldiers had driven Boko Haram out of Gamboru, and pledged to hunt down the militants everywhere.
Earlier in the day, about 2,000 Chadian soldiers, accompanied by armored vehicles, crossed the border from the Cameroonian town of Fotokol into the town of Gamboru. In Fotokol, Cameroonian soldiers also clashed with Boko Haram fighters who fled Gamboru when the Chadian army attacked.
Also on February 3, the Nigerian army declared that the country's territorial sovereignty was not compromised by the presence of Chadian infantry fighting Boko Haram, and affirmed that Nigerian security forces were leading the campaign to hunt down the rebels.
