According to the source, the fighting also killed 9 Chadian soldiers and wounded 21. The death toll is likely to rise as clashes continue in the town of Gamboru, in Borno state, northeast Nigeria. However, the commander of the Republic of Chad forces Ahmat Dari announced that Chadian soldiers had driven Boko Haram out of Gamboru, and pledged to hunt down the militants everywhere.
Earlier in the day, about 2,000 Chadian soldiers and armored vehicles crossed the border from the Cameroonian town of Fotokol into the town of Gamboru. In Fotokol, Cameroonian soldiers also clashed with Boko Haram gunmen who fled Gamboru when the Chadian army attacked.
Also on February 3, the Nigerian military declared that the country's territorial sovereignty was not compromised by the presence of Chadian infantry fighting Boko Haram, and affirmed that Nigerian security forces were leading the campaign to suppress the rebels.
