According to the source, the fighting also resulted in the deaths of nine Chadian soldiers and injuries to 21 others. The death toll is likely to rise as clashes continue in the town of Gamboru, in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria. However, Chadian Republic forces commander Ahmat Dari declared that Chadian soldiers had driven Boko Haram out of Gamboru and pledged to hunt down the militants wherever they may be.
Earlier that day, approximately 2,000 Chadian soldiers, along with armored vehicles, crossed the border from the Cameroonian town of Fotokol into the town of Gamboru. In Fotokol, Cameroonian soldiers also clashed with Boko Haram militants fleeing Gamboru as Chadian troops attacked.
Also on February 3rd, the Nigerian military declared that the country's territorial sovereignty was not compromised by the presence of Chadian infantry fighting Boko Haram, and affirmed that Nigerian security forces were leading the operation to hunt down the militants.
