German army seriously short of ammunition?

German media believe that the German armed forces are almost completely out of ammunition reserves.

According to Die Welt, ammunition for some weapons may only be enough for a few days, while during the Cold War it was enough for a month of use.

In this regard, the German Ministry of Defense plans to purchase additional ammunition - at least G36 rifle and MG4 machine gun ammunition.

By the end of November this year, Germany plans to purchase an additional 25 million 5.56 mm and 45 mm rounds, according to Die Welt.

Previously, German Defense Minister Ursula von der Lyayen announced that the country will gradually increase its military budget to 2% of GDP.

The number of German armed forces in 2024 will increase to 198,000 people.
