The Variable Kinetic system, manufactured by PepperBall Technology, will be equipped for US soldiers in Afghanistan, Army Times quoted a PepperBall statement.
This weapon operates on the same principle as the M4/M16 rifle, so soldiers using this weapon will undergo similar training.
The Variable Kinetic features a dual feed system, allowing a shooter to toggle the adjustment knob between "hopper" mode and "magazine" mode to increase ammunition capacity.
The bullets, which resemble paintball bullets, are filled with hot pepper solution and have an effective range of up to 45m, half the length of a football field.
According to PepperBall, these bullets will shatter upon impact and create a "cloud" that affects the eyes, nose and respiratory system, helping soldiers temporarily control the situation during riots.
However, the manufacturer does not disclose the exact quality of the product or delivery time.
