The drills include a controlled communication exercise aimed at bridging the language gap between the two militaries, with South Korean soldiers assigned to units under the US military, Sputnik reported, citing a press release from the US Department of Defense yesterday.
"US soldiers will use manned mobile air defense systems. Teams of two soldiers will be able to destroy low-altitude cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles and other airborne threats," the statement said.
Meanwhile, South Korean troops played the role of the enemy throughout the exercise. The US Department of Defense announced that it planned several more joint exercises in the coming months.
