Russian military destroys rebel drone at Hmeymim base
The Russian military destroyed two drone targets launched towards the Hmeymim airbase from the territory controlled by militants in Latakia province, according to the Center for Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria.

As the head of the Center, Major General Alexei Tsygankov said: air targets fired from conventional anti-aircraft weapons fell on the airbase. According to him, there were no casualties or material damage. At the same time, the airbase continues to operate in accordance with the plan.
General Tsygankov also called on the commanders of illegal armed groups to abandon provocations and follow the path of peaceful settlement of the situation in the areas under their control.
Russian air defense systems intercepted small aircraft near Hmeymim base.
The last attack happened the day before. The drone launched by the rebels from Latakia province was destroyed quite far from the airbase.
In July 2018, the Russian military also shot down several drones launched by militants towards Hmeymim.
