The army comes from the people and serves the people.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic appeared, implementing the call of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the direction of the Government, the leadership and direction of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, Party committees, leaders and commanders at all levels, officers and soldiers of the entire army and militia and self-defense forces nationwide have upheld the spirit of patriotism, serving the Fatherland and the people, not afraid of hardships and sacrifices, both training and being ready to fight, actively and proactively participating in epidemic prevention and control, not allowing the epidemic to spread in agencies and units; contributing to preventing and repelling the epidemic.

The entire army has deployed more than 1,900 anti-epidemic teams and checkpoints, with more than 13,000 people, strictly controlling the land and sea borders, preventing illegal entry and exit; coordinating with localities to organize nearly 5,000 anti-epidemic teams and checkpoints, with the participation of more than 22,000 officers, soldiers, and militiamen in epidemic areas; deployed 190 quarantine points to serve more than 270,000 people; organized 10 infectious disease field hospitals, converted the function of a military-civilian general hospital into a hospital to treat Covid-19 patients, and established a center to treat moderate and severe Covid-19 patients with thousands of doctors and military medical staff.

The army has contributed 510 billion VND to the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund; mobilized thousands of cars to transport vaccines to localities; and disinfected thousands of epidemic areas and points.

The silent sacrifices of officers and soldiers of the entire army are demonstrated at all times and in all places. Many comrades have spent many nights sleeping in the forest to firmly guard the border to prevent the spread of the disease; giving up their barracks and sleeping quarters to the people, wholeheartedly taking care of people in blockaded areas and quarantine points.

There are comrades whose family members have passed away, whose wives and children have been infected with Covid-19 and who cannot return home because they are still on duty; many doctors, nurses, and students from military medical schools volunteered to go to Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, and Bac Giang, and after completing their duties, they immediately went to Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces to continue participating in the prevention and control of the epidemic. There are comrades who have been infected, and some have sacrificed while performing their duties...

The above reality clearly demonstrates the determination and great responsibility of soldiers to the Fatherland and the people; affirming: Wherever people encounter difficulties, hardships, natural disasters, and epidemics, there are soldiers to help the people.

At the launching ceremony of the special emulation movement with the theme "The Army and the whole country unite, join hands, and compete to prevent, fight and defeat the Covid-19 pandemic" on the morning of August 23, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense requested the entire army to focus on emulation, demonstrate the will of "firm feet and soft stones", wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly "forgetting oneself for the people", "serving the people", actively and taking the lead in participating and excellently completing the task of preventing and fighting the epidemic. Agencies and units closely follow the situation at the grassroots level and the development of the epidemic, especially in key areas to promptly advise the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, the Government's Special Task Force in the Southern region, leaders, commanders and Steering Committees for epidemic prevention and control at all levels to effectively direct the work of preventing and fighting the epidemic.

Coordinate with local Party committees, authorities and armed forces to closely maintain the activities of teams and posts on the border and at sea, resolutely prevent illegal entry, assigned units need to organize quarantine areas well. Field hospitals actively participate in health care, testing and vaccinating people, treating patients, especially seriously ill patients at hospitals inside and outside the Army...

Along with that, the Army forces have increased coordination activities, supported local Party committees and authorities to resolve difficulties, care for sick people, help harvest agricultural products and crops, and provide essential goods to serve people's lives; prepared higher-level epidemic prevention and control plans to promptly respond and handle situations, and avoid being passive or surprised in any situation.

Agencies and units synchronously, resolutely and effectively deploy epidemic prevention and control measures according to the direction of the Government, the Ministry of National Defense and localities; promptly detect and reward outstanding collectives and individuals in the emulation movement; promote propaganda of good and effective models, advanced examples, brave examples, good people, good deeds in preventing and fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, widely spreading the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers" in the new period.
