Vladimir Rogov, a senior Russian-appointed official in the Zaporozhye region, said Ukrainian troops would cross the Dnieper River by the end of July. That would be a good time, as the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir, which supplies cooling water to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, has reached dangerously low levels. Without sufficient water in the future, the plant would not be able to cool its systems and operate its generators, potentially leading to a nuclear meltdown.

The Armed Forces Command of Ukraine believes that the assault group on lightly armored vehicles will be able to cross the Dnieper and reach the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, Rogov said.

According to Mr. Rogov, in early July, a headquarters was established at the Rivne nuclear power plant in the northwestern region under the leadership of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. They discussed options for attacking the spent nuclear fuel storage facility and reactors at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, preparing for a missile attack on the area. However, at that time, Kiev canceled this plan.

Earlier, the official predicted that Ukrainian forces could concentrate their main force to achieve a breakthrough at any position on the front line.

“The enemy is preparing for the second stage of a full-scale counterattack. This counterattack can take place any day, any time. Kiev is trying to mislead Moscow’s intelligence along the entire line of communication on the Zaporizhzhia front. They are constantly mobilizing and sending troops to this area,” Sputnik (Russia) quoted Mr. Rogov as saying.
