In an analysis in The New York Times, it is said: The Russian Armed Forces are using a new tactic, by igniting minefields.

“According to the Ukrainian Marine Corps, the Russian military is using a new tactic to make already dangerous minefields even more dangerous. They place flammable substances on the minefields. As Ukrainian forces clear a corridor through the minefield, the Russians drop a grenade from a drone, causing an explosion and a sea of fire,” the New York Times reported.

At the same time, the Ukrainian military also acknowledged Russia's advantage in several important aspects: more artillery, more tanks, more drones, and more soldiers.

However, on the southern front, after weeks of fierce fighting, Ukrainian forces claim to have breached Russian defenses, and taken control of several towns.

Since the full-scale counteroffensive began on June 4, Ukraine’s advance in the south has stalled significantly, as its forces have had to traverse what has been described as a “maze” of heavily fortified Russian trenches and strongpoints, with every movement easily detected by Russian drones monitoring the battlefield.

For its part, Russia has its own strategy to deal with Ukraine. The Russian army has concentrated more than 100,000 soldiers behind the front line in the Northeast.

Ukraine also predicted that Russia would try to retake Robotyne, preventing Kiev from advancing further south. Recently, the Ukrainian military also detected signs that Russia had mobilized the 76th Division – an elite reserve force – to plug the gap in the Zaporozhye region.
