Vietnam - China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership

Nearly 75 years after establishing diplomatic relations, Vietnam-China relations have maintained good development momentum and achieved many important results.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang is paying an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The overall bilateral relationship has maintained a good momentum of development and achieved many important and historic results. Since the beginning of 2024, many high-level exchanges and contacts have continued to take place actively and in flexible forms.

In terms of trade, Vietnam maintains its position as the largest trading partner in ASEAN and China's fifth largest trading partner by national criteria. Two-way trade turnover in 2023 will reach 171.9 billion USD, of which our exports will reach 61.2 billion USD and imports from China will reach 110.6 billion USD.

In the first 8 months of 2024, bilateral import-export turnover reached 130.78 billion USD.

In 2023, China's investment in Vietnam reached 4.47 billion USD with 707 projects, the 4th largest investor in Vietnam in terms of registered capital and the largest in terms of number of projects.

In the first 8 months of 2024, China ranked 3rd with registered capital reaching nearly 1.7 billion USD, but ranked first in the number of newly licensed projects with 662 projects.

Chinese investors have invested in 19/21 economic sectors with FDI investment and in 55/63 provinces and cities of Vietnam.

After a 3-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in 2023, Vietnam welcomed 1.75 million Chinese visitors, ranking 2nd among the markets sending visitors to Vietnam (after South Korea with 3.6 million visitors). In the first 8 months of 2024, Vietnam welcomed 2.4 million Chinese visitors to Vietnam, accounting for 21.4% of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam, ranking 2nd.
