(Baonghean.vn) - On November 16, expert Andrei Bystrisky - Chairman of the Development and Support Fund of the Valdai International Discussion Club - said that the Russia-US relationship is going through the most difficult period in the history of bilateral dialogue, but expressed optimism that this relationship can improve in the medium term.
Expert Bystrisky made the above comments on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the former Soviet Union and the United States on November 16, 1933.

"I cannot be sure that relations between Russia and the United States will improve tomorrow. However, it seems to me that they will improve in the medium term. There is no doubt that many challenges may arise, but overall, Russia and the United States are reasonable countries with creative populations and are capable of shaping a mutually acceptable future in which everyone will feel comfortable. The history of relations between Russia and the United States is a history filled with drama, but it is a bright history, not a dark one," Bystrisky said.
“In the 18th, 19th, 20th centuries, and even during the Cold War, as well as in James Bond movies, the United States referred to its relationship with Russia as a relationship between two hostile countries, albeit on an equal footing, and in most cases Washington referred to this relationship in an ironic way,” the expert commented.
In the opinion of the Russian expert, the deterioration of relations between Moscow and Washington is directly related to the political turmoil in the United States itself. He pointed out: "We are now witnessing one of the most complicated periods in this bilateral relationship, marked by a lot of skepticism and suspicion, as well as many controversial and erroneous moves."
"The current deterioration in bilateral relations stems from the shaky political climate in the United States, where society is trudging through a huge and complex transition, while choosing new goals and relationships for the future. These are very serious problems, and we are witnessing the consequences of these developments," Bystrisky said.
The expert also highlighted possible contacts that could help Moscow and Washington in the future.
He pointed out: "First of all, this is the globalization formula. The whole world is completely interdependent and the global formula depends not only on Russia and the United States, but also on India, China and other countries. However, the world needs rules, needs relationships, needs agreements and even methods to build these agreements. World control is the basic point of contact"./.
