Billionaire Donald Trump's manager arrested for assaulting reporter

(Baonghean.vn) - The campaign manager of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was arrested in Florida on March 29 and charged with assault, according to police sources.

Corey Lewandowski, 42, was charged with intentionally holding down and causing bruising to the arm of Michelle Fields, a reporter for the Breitbart news channel, at a Trump campaign event on March 8, Jupiter police said.

“Mr. Lewandowski is completely innocent of these charges. He will prove his innocence and looks forward to his day in court,” the Trump campaign said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the police department has released video footage of the incident between Fields and Lewandowski. Unlike previous footage released by news networks present at the press conference, the new footage was not obscured by many people.

The video shows that as Ms Fields was walking next to Mr Trump, Mr Lewandowski grabbed her arm and pulled the reporter back.

Billionaire Trump's rallies across the US are often marked by disorderly behavior and clashes between protesters and his supporters or security forces.

Mr. Lewandowski was charged with assault, which is defined under Florida law as intentionally touching or striking a person against his or her will. For a first offense, it is a first-degree misdemeanor, which carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison or a $1,000 fine.
