Quang Binh plans to print Hollywood stars on souvenir shirts

Images of actress Brie Larson and King Kong may be selected to be printed on souvenir shirts promoting Quang Binh tourism.

After the Kong: Skull Island film crew left Quang Binh, the provincial tourism industry quickly made plans to attract visitors thanks to the effects of the film as well as the crew’s activities. Many ideas were put forward by leaders and tourism businesses in the province for discussion in the past.

Recently, speaking to VnExpress, Mr. Le Thanh Tinh, Director of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park said: "We are conducting research and proposing to the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism that, if possible, we will print the image of the film's main actress Brie Larson on a souvenir shirt." This idea came from the Hollywood star wearing a Phong Nha - Ke Bang commemorative T-shirt on her way back to the US to attend the Oscars on the evening of February 24. In addition, the image of King Kong is also being considered and proposed to be printed on the shirt.

However, the implementation of this idea also encountered certain difficulties. Mr. Ho An Phong, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Binh, said that printing images of Hollywood stars or King Kong still depends on copyright application. "We have only received proposals from businesses, so everything still needs to be discussed, evaluated and planned specifically," Mr. Phong said.

Previously, Quang Binh also planned to build a statue of King Kong and ask for props, which are pieces of airplane debris, to build a film set as a tourist highlight, on the occasion of the blockbuster Kong: Skull Island starting filming.

The American film crew arrived in Quang Binh from February 22 to 25. The two locations chosen for filming were Yen Phu Lake (Trung Hoa Commune) and Chuot Cave (Tan Hoa Commune, Minh Hoa District).
