Scene of Chinese factory after explosion that killed and injured 32 people
An explosion in the port city of Ningbo, China, killed two people, injured 30 and shook many houses.
The explosion occurred at around 9 a.m. on November 26 at an empty lot in an old factory in Ningbo city, Zhejiang province, eastern China, killing two people and injuring at least 30 others.AFPlocal government announcement on social media.
Drone video posted on TwitterPeople's DailyPhotos showed at least four collapsed buildings billowing smoke after the explosion, with rescue workers wearing hard hats carrying injured people from the area, while some victims were still lying on the ground.
According to CCTV, witnesses said pieces of concrete, wood and glass were scattered over a large area. Metal gates were blown off and many windows were shattered.
The cause of the explosion has not yet been announced.Police said the collapsed buildings were being demolished so no one was living there, however, scrap collectors may have been at the scene.
State media reported that more than 30 people were hospitalized. Television footage showed cars twisted by the force of the explosion, a column of gray smoke rising into the sky and piles of rubble scattered around the scene.
