Quang Nam determined to push Brazilian striker out of V-League

“Quang Nam acknowledged Claudecir’s contributions to the 2017 V-League championship and reduced the compensation to $50,000 to $60,000. However, the team still reserved the request.Claudecircannot play football in Vietnam this year. If my client still wants to play here, the amount will be different,” said Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Claudecir’s representative.

Claudecir did not return to the team to train and prepare for the 2018 season even though he still had a one-year contract with Quang Nam. The Brazilian striker signed a contract with another team in the V-League and asked a friend to write a letter impersonating FIFA, asking the Tam Ky team to terminate the contract within 72 hours.

After being criticized by the Quang Nam team leaders, the Brazilian foreign player flew to Vietnam to admit his mistake, claiming his wife was sick and his hometown was flooded, and asked for sympathy, and submitted his resignation. The team leaders announced that they would accept the “Best Foreign Player of V-League 2017” to leave on the condition that he would pay half a million dollars in compensation as stated in the signed contract, and that he would not be allowed to play in Vietnam for a season.

“The figure of 50,000 - 60,000 USD is not final. We acknowledge Claudecir's contribution but also have to consider the interests of the team. The condition of not being allowed to play in Vietnam for a season must be maintained. We will not easily create a bad precedent,” said Quang Nam Club Executive Director Nguyen Hup.

Mr. Nguyen Hup said the club has also signed a contract with a new foreign player to replace Claudecir, to compete in V-League 2018.
