Quang Ninh: Merging press agencies

At the meeting on the implementation of the Quang Ninh Provincial Media Center model, on December 3, 2018, Mr. Nguyen Van Doc - Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee - said that the establishment of the Provincial Media Center is an important task to innovate the organization and apparatus, improve the quality of operations of information and press agencies, contribute to innovation, improve the quality and effectiveness of ideological work of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee in the new situation; increasingly better serve the needs and requirements of the people for local press products.

Mr. Doc also requested to speed up the establishment of the Center, so that from January 1, 2019, the Quang Ninh Media Center can be put into operation. For this center to operate effectively from the beginning, Quang Ninh province will establish a steering committee, in which a Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee will be assigned as the head of the committee.

According to the Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, the Quang Ninh Media Center must ensure a streamlined apparatus and effective operation, with the viewpoint of maintaining the status quo of cadres, reporters, employees, and facilities at the units after their establishment; maintaining the current press products but must focus on improving the quality of press products.

After the merger, Quang Ninh Media Center will have nearly 400 people, of which 80 are staff of Quang Ninh Newspaper; Quang Ninh Radio and Television Station has over 200 officers, reporters, announcers, technicians, etc.

Previously, on November 30, 2018, the Office of the Party Central Committee issued an official dispatch informing the direction of the Party Central Committee Secretariat on the establishment of the Quang Ninh Media Center. Accordingly, after considering the proposal of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee on the establishment of a Multimedia Communications Agency under the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, the Party Central Committee Secretariat welcomed, highly appreciated and agreed on the policy of establishing the above center.

The Central Party Secretariat requested: Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee needs to direct the implementation of this policy well, with solid steps; the center's organizational structure needs to be streamlined; focus on building, using and promoting the best team of collaborators; select leaders, managers, editors, and reporters who are truly professional, dedicated, and have a firm political stance.
