Quang Tri: Over 150 unexploded bombs discovered in a bunker left over from the war.

At noon on October 5th, the bomb disposal team of Truong Son Construction Corporation, under the 12th Army Corps, discovered a large quantity of bombs and ammunition in Ka Tang hamlet, Lao Bao town, Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province.

While clearing unexploded ordnance before commencing construction on the expanded Lao Bao International Border Gate infrastructure project, the bomb disposal team of Truong Son Construction Corporation, 12th Army Corps, discovered a bomb bunker at a depth of 2.5 meters containing 159 bombs and ammunition of various types, including 33 130mm mortar shells; three 175mm mortar shells; 70 M79 bombs; three grenades and 50 cluster bombs.

According to local residents, unexploded ordnance was frequently found in this area while people were working in their fields.

Previously, the bomb disposal team of Truong Son Construction Corporation, 12th Army Corps, discovered a considerable number of cluster bombs remaining from the war against the US at this location.

Currently, the unexploded ordnance has been moved to a designated area awaiting disposal, and the construction unit, in coordination with the Lao Bao International Border Gate Border Guard Station, is continuing to expand the search area.
