(Baonghean.vn) - During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always had deep affection for his hometown Nghe An. After decades of separation, on June 14, 1957, he returned to his hometown and emotionally said: "My hometown is full of love and affection/ Those fifty years have been filled with so much love." Uncle Ho also sent many letters to his hometown. In particular, on July 21, 1969, he sent his last letter to the Party Executive Committee of Nghe An province with profound advice, full of love, and filled with many expectations for his hometown.

STRONGLY CHANGE WITH THE COUNTRY

The Party Committee, government and people of the province always consider Uncle Ho's last letter as his Testament for the homeland. Half a century has passed, imbued with Uncle Ho's teachings, whether in the resistance war against the US or entering the period of national construction, Nghe An has always made worthy contributions, leaving its mark in the history of the country. Especially in the current period, proud to be Uncle Ho's homeland, promoting the tradition of Nghe An, under the leadership of Party committees at all levels, people of all walks of life are working hard every day, producing, building an increasingly full and prosperous life.

Going up to the border area of Que Phong, the locality was honored to receive a letter of praise from Uncle Ho on April 12, 1966 because "the people and cadres of all ethnic groups in the whole district have tried and successfully completed the 5-year plan for cultural education 1 year ahead of schedule". In the letter, Uncle kindly advised: "The people and cadres of the district strive to compete to achieve many achievements in increasing production, be ready to fight and continue to study to make further progress, contributing worthily to the cause of fighting against the US and saving the country of all our people".

According to comrade Truong Minh Cuong - Standing Deputy Secretary of Que Phong District Party Committee, implementing Uncle Ho's instructions, over the past years, Que Phong has made many efforts to develop the socio-economy, especially promoting the strengths of a mountainous district with forest economy and indigenous agricultural and medicinal plants. Therefore, one of the biggest marks must be mentioned in the work of hunger eradication and poverty reduction. At the beginning of this term, the poverty rate was up to 60%, but at the end of 2018 it was 32.4% and is striving to reduce it to 26-27% by the end of the term.

"Every Dong Hieu resident today is the child of former farm workers who is always proud of the history, solidarity, and attachment to building an increasingly developed homeland."

Comrade Vu Quang Ha - Permanent Deputy Secretary of Dong Hieu Commune Party Committee

Located in the center of Phu Quy, Dong Hieu - a commune in the young town of Thai Hoa, has a proud history. On the red basalt land, Dong Hieu Farm used to be one of the leading flags of state-owned farms, typical in the patriotic emulation movement with the slogan "Working during the day is not enough, take advantage of working at night". The farm was honored to welcome Uncle Ho to visit on December 10, 1961. On December 23, 2015, the relic cluster of places where Uncle Ho visited Dong Hieu Farm was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Historical Relic Site. Comrade Vu Quang Ha - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Hieu commune shared: With that mindset, entering a new development stage of the country, each Dong Hieu resident today is the child of former farm workers who are always proud of the history, solidarity, and attachment to building their homeland to develop more and more. The proof is that since 2015, Dong Hieu has reached the new rural finish line.

It can be said that Nghe An today, from the lowlands to the highlands, from urban to rural areas, has made strong changes, the material and spiritual life of the people has been constantly improved. The poverty rate by the end of 2018 was only 5.54. The whole province currently has 3 district-level units completing the task of building new rural areas, 226/431 communes meeting new rural standards, of which 4 communes belong to poor district 30a, 2 border communes and 30 communes with a large number of ethnic minorities.

The average number of criteria in the whole province reached 15.64 criteria/commune; 667 villages/hamlets met the new rural standards according to the province's criteria. Nam Dan - Uncle Ho's hometown also reached the new rural finish line with many new and creative ways and is being selected by the Central Steering Committee as one of the four districts nationwide to pilot the construction of a model new rural area in the direction of cultural development associated with tourism. Vinh City - from an urban area that was heavily devastated during the war, after decades of construction, has now become a modern type I urban area, aiming at the center of the North Central region.

AFFIRMING THE DESIRE TO RISE UP

In the context of a low starting point, the achievements that Nghe An has achieved must be recognized as extremely great. According to Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Van Do, Nghe An currently has an economic scale ranked 11th in the country, and its budget revenue also ranks 17th. We are happy and proud because behind the above figures are the efforts of a long journey; but the Party Committee and people of the province are aware that these are only initial results. Although the ranking is in the top 20 nationwide, Nghe An's position is not strong. Budget revenue has not yet been self-balanced, and per capita income is lower than the national average...

With the mindset and vision of "breakthrough - progress", the province has been taking steady steps on the path of development...

In recent years, implementing the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2015-2020 term, Resolution No. 26 of the Politburo on the direction and development of Nghe An province until 2020, new directions have been clearly outlined. In particular, with the mindset and vision of "breakthrough - progress", the province has been taking steady steps on the path of development, associated with 3 key economic regions: Vinh city - Cua Lo town - Southeast districts associated with the Southern Nghe An - Northern Ha Tinh region; Hoang Mai - Quynh Luu region associated with the Southern Thanh Hoa - Northern Nghe An region; Western Nghe An economic region, focusing on Nghia Dan district - Thai Hoa town - Quy Hop district.

Western Nghe An, such as Nghia Dan district, is becoming a national and regional high-tech agricultural center. Coastal districts - Southeast Economic Zone are becoming the destination of many potential and prestigious domestic and foreign investors, after the province chose to call for industrial park infrastructure investors, on that basis attracting secondary investors. Vinh city associated with Cua Lo is gradually becoming a large urban area, with spreading power and promising to develop even more strongly when the traffic infrastructure is more complete and synchronized.

"With the orientation of agricultural development associated with high-tech application; prioritizing breakthrough urban development, the province will continue to maintain the trend of high and sustainable growth; the benefits of development will spread to all classes of people. This is a very suitable direction of growth and development."

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Dinh Thien - former Director of Vietnam Economic Institute

"The last letter sent to the Party Committee and People of Nghe An - President Ho Chi Minh's will for his homeland, has eternal value, the "big features" still retain their value".

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Dinh Phong - Senior Lecturer, Ho Chi Minh Institute and Party Leaders, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics

With pride in being the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh, imbued with, deeply engraved and creatively applying his teachings, Nghe An is affirming its aspiration to reach new heights, to "soon become a well-off province" as he always wished during his lifetime.
