The first session of the 15th National Assembly, scheduled to open on July 20, will spend five days on personnel work. The National Assembly will elect the new National Assembly Chairman, President, and Prime Minister.

Reporting at the 57th session of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the afternoon of June 14, Secretary General of the National Assembly Bui Van Cuong said that the first session of the 15th National Assembly is scheduled to open on July 20. One of the important contents of this session is personnel work.
According to Mr. Bui Van Cuong, the new point of this personnel work is that it is not carried out continuously from beginning to end, but is arranged alternately with other contents to both properly implement the authority, process, and procedures, and save time (during the time the National Assembly elects and approves personnel, relevant agencies receive, edit, and ensure the quality of draft resolutions).

The National Assembly will consider and decide on personnel of National Assembly agencies and the Secretary General of the National Assembly immediately after the opening session so that these agencies can perform their assigned tasks.
Because by the opening of the session, the Council of Nationalities, the Committees of the National Assembly and the Secretary General of the 14th National Assembly will have completed their duties; the Standing Committee of the 14th National Assembly will operate until the National Assembly elects the Standing Committee of the 15th National Assembly.
5 days of HR work
Mr. Cuong proposed that in the morning of the opening session, the National Assembly would give opinions on the personnel of the National Assembly, not discuss in groups but proceed with the election in the afternoon. After the election, the new National Assembly Chairman would take the oath in the afternoon.
The Secretary General of the National Assembly also said that the specific time for considering and electing the President and Prime Minister will be adjusted accordingly.
In addition, Mr. Cuong informed that this is the first session of the term, so the Prime Minister will present a socio-economic report at the opening session.

However, at the opening time, the Chairman of the 15th Economic Committee had not been elected to present the socio-economic audit report, so Vu Hong Thanh, a member of the 14th National Assembly Standing Committee and Chairman of the 14th Economic Committee, was assigned to present the audit report of the 14th Economic Committee.
The meeting will be arranged to broadcast live the opening and closing sessions; discuss socio-economic issues, the State budget for the first 6 months of the year, the 5-year socio-economic development plan, and the practice of thrift and anti-waste in 2020.
The Secretary General of the National Assembly added that, given the specific content of the session, the National Assembly needs to convene at the National Assembly House. The Office of the National Assembly has proactively coordinated with relevant agencies to make careful and thorough preparations to ensure the best service for the session, especially having specific plans and strategies for epidemic prevention and control according to the actual situation.
Therefore, all National Assembly deputies, officials and staff participating in serving the session were vaccinated against Covid-19.
The total duration of the meeting is expected to be 11.5 working days, including 5 days for personnel work; 4.5 days for reviewing reports and other matters; half a day for preparation; 1 day for opening and closing; and half a day for backup. The meeting is expected to close on the morning of August 3.
