The Cuban National Assembly ratified the agreement to normalize relations with the United States.
According to AFP, the Cuban National Assembly on December 19 unanimously approved the agreement reached between Havana and Washington to normalize bilateral relations after half a century of hostility.

This session, chaired by President Raul Castro, focused primarily on discussing the island nation's resumption of relations with the United States.
President Raul Castro is expected to deliver a closing speech later that evening, attended by the group of five Cuban intelligence agents detained in the United States.
The last three members of this group were released in a prisoner exchange that paved the way for the re-establishment of US-Cuba relations on December 17.
