According to AFP, the Cuban National Assembly on December 19 unanimously approved the agreement reached between Havana and Washington to normalize bilateral relations after half a century of hostility.

President Raul Castro is expected to deliver a closing speech later that evening, attended by the group of five Cuban intelligence agents detained in the United States.

The last three members of this group were released in a prisoner exchange that paved the way for the re-establishment of US-Cuba relations on December 17.
